The Hello Song

In the “Hello Song” we hope that the children will learn the names of their peers as well as their own name. To accomplish this, we sing and clap a song at the beginning of circle time:

Hello (Child’s name)
Hello (Child’s name)
Hello (Child’s name)
We’re glad you came today! Hey!

This song can also teach the children how to clap. In this they learn how to imitate the action of clapping through a slow tempo. It also helps increase the attention span through showing the children pictures and having them guess who it could be.
For a child who is visually impaired we suggest putting brail on his or her picture so they can start to recognize their name and its spelling.
